WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
WHAT IT IS-
Hypnotherapy is like a mental massage for your subconscious mind. It's where a skilled therapist uses soothing words and relaxation techniques to help you tap into the hidden corners of your brain, sort out the mental junk drawers, and maybe even rearrange the furniture up there. It's not about swinging watches or making you cluck like a chicken (unless that's your thing); it's more like a chill session where you and your mind get to have a heart-to-heart conversation while lounging in a comfy mental hammock.
It is a state of heightened concentration and focus which is a trance-like state. It’s a natural state of mind characterized by deep relaxation and suggestibility. A therapeutic tool used to create new neural pathways (think of them as a backroad for your brain instead of using your usual route) to help address various issues, such as, pain management, anxiety, phobias, bad habits, PTSD, depression, and a thousand more applications- even past life regression.
It is completely voluntary. People under hypnosis retain control at all times and are not made to do anything against their will - EVER. Consent and cooperation are crucial.
And finally, and most important, it is safe when conducted by a trained professional (like me) and has no side effects. Pretty cool, huh?
WHAT IT ISN’T-
Hypnosis is not a cosmic elevator ride to the fifth dimension where you'll find lost socks and ancient WiFi passwords. It's not a magic trick that makes you think you can fly. It's definitely not a secret portal to a parallel universe. Nope, hypnosis is none of those things—it's simply a focused state of mind where your imagination takes center stage while your subconscious politely holds the popcorn.
In other words- it’s not supernatural or mind control. It’s a psychological technique that relies on natural cognitive and physiological processes and does not give the hypnotherapist “control” over the subject’s mind and cannot make people act against their moral values or do things they normally wouldn’t do.
Since we know it’s not magic, it just goes to say that it’s not a magic cure-all. It’s a powerful therapeutic tool that may not work for people that are actively fighting the process. You just have to go with the flow.
You’re also not asleep or unconscious. Although it involves deep relaxation, people are often aware of their surroundings, can remember what happened during the session, and can come out of the hypnotic state whenever they choose. In other words- you’re always in the driver’s seat!
